Because We Care
WAKO is proud to introduce its Adaptive Program for People with Parkinson's Disease, a new initiative aligned with our broader Social Integration Strategy – Because We Care. This program, inspired by a successful project in Singapore, aims to leverage the physical and cognitive benefits of kickboxing to support individuals living with Parkinson's.
Kickboxing’s focus on balance, coordination, and physical activity can help slow the progression of the disease, and WAKO is working to share this template with national federations globally.
In addition, WAKO’s Because We Care program has expanded its reach through a groundbreaking partnership with the Iraqi Kickboxing Sport Federation (WAKO Iraq) and the Mam Humanitarian Foundation. This initiative supports the implementation of a self-defense program for women in the Arbat refugee camp in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.
With dedicated resources and expertise from WAKO and partners like the Aikya Institute in Palermo, Italy, trained coaches are helping to empower women in difficult environments through kickboxing
and self-defense training.
WAKO’s social responsibility initiatives are driven by a commitment to hope, equality, future, pride, and opportunity. Whether it’s promoting physical health through the Parkinson’s program or building confidence and dignity for refugees, the Because We Care program is about
creating tangible,
positive impact through the power of sport.
